Yogyakarta, August 23, 2025 – SMA Kolese De Britto Yogyakarta successfully hosted the De Britto Open House 2025 with the theme “We Make Leaders”. The event, held on the school campus, brought together hundreds of kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school students, along with teachers and parents.
The Principal of SMA Kolese De Britto, R. Arifin Nugroho, emphasized that the Open House served as a space for meaningful encounters between the school and the broader community, while also providing an opportunity to learn more about the unique character of Jesuit education at SMA Kolese De Britto.
“At De Britto, education goes beyond academic excellence. We are committed to forming character through the values of 1L+5C (Leadership, Competence, Conscience, Compassion, Commitment, Consistency). These values shape future servant leaders—resilient, collaborative, and compassionate,” he explained.
Highlights of Activities and Competitions
This year’s Open House featured a variety of engaging activities, including:
Creative Competitions: coloring contests for kindergarten & grade 1–3 students, drawing contests for grade 4–6 students (129 participants), and a marching band competition with five participating schools.
Junior High School Academic Competitions: 106 participants in total, with subjects including Bahasa & Mathematics (47), Social Studies (29), and Science (30).
Leadership Legacy Challenge (Junior High School): 21 teams (63 participants) showcasing collaboration, problem-solving, and resilience.
Talk Show About Education at De Britto: attended by more than 500 participants, exploring Jesuit values, character formation models, and the process of nurturing leaders of service in the Generation Z era.
Extracurricular Expo: featuring student creativity in arts, sports, technology, science, and spiritual activities.
The event also featured food bazaar with more than 30 local small businesses offering traditional and modern dishes, free health check-ups in collaboration with Kimia Farma, and an admissions booth providing complete information about the student registration process.
The theme “We Make Leaders” reflects the school’s vision to face the challenges of 21st-century education: nurturing a generation that is not only academically excellent but also strong in character, socially aware, and ready to take part as agents of change.
“This Open House is our open invitation to the community—to see, to experience, and to engage directly with Jesuit education at De Britto: an education that liberates and humanizes,” Arifin added.
